Starting a part time business for the holidays

If you have going into stores lately, starting in late September companies like Walmart has gotten a jump on The Christmas rush.  Most of us wait to the last minute for our Christmas Bonus to pay for Christmas.  How would you like to generate some the money for Christmas and all you have to do is let people that you like various products and/or services?  Most of us are on some sort of Social Media like Facebook, Twitter and so on… We talk and promote issues, rants where we went or what we saw and don’t make anything by doing so.

When we think of making more money we think of getting a raise on our jobs.  As mention before we tend to wait for our Christmas bonus.  What if we don’t get bonuses and we haven’t saved for Christmas?  Or get started early on Christmas shopping in August (lol).

I’ve been a business owner most of my life and one of my businesses is a marketing company.  I get paid for marketing other peoples products and services.  Most businesses can’t afford to pay for a sales/marketing company to do it for them.  So with the advent of the internet and technology makes it cost effective for companies to generate sale without paying upfront.  Just to let you know,  word of mouth is the best form of advertising.  We go to movies, restaurants, pick auto repair shops based on the recommendation of a friend.

So there is something called “affiliate marketing” that gives companies to link with a person that likes a product or service and let their friends, and contacts inform them about what they like and are using.  Companies offer referral fees, commissions for those that promote for them and because of that generate a sale.  The person that is promoting a product or service is not an employee of the company, they are considered as “affiliate”, in-short an independent contractor.  The company is able to pay referral fees, commissions in stead of paying for marketing, sales staff and so on.  It’s the new wave of entrepreneurship.  That is how you can work part time and the company has help to produce sales.

Affiliate marketing programs are a great way to generate income, a great introduction to e-commerce and a great way to break into starting your own business. The more people that drop by your website, the great your chance will be at creating an excellent income.

Affiliate marketing programs are where a company offers to pay you a set amount for either a click
through from your Facebook/social media, website,  or a set amount for visitors signing up, or even a percentage of a
purchase made by visitors as a result of being referred from you.

Even if visitors don’t make a purchase immediately, almost all programs offer cookie duration, normally
consisting of 30 – 90 days. What this means, is that as long as the visitors have the cookie in
their cache, you’ll still receive a profit from the sale.

The biggest amount of time in maintaining your site will be searching and implementing affiliations
with various companies. Even though there’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing, you have to take
the time to search for the best programs.

One thing that you may not be happy with, is the idea of other companies banners littering your
website. If you use too many banners or links on any web page, it can confuse and help to irritate
your visitors. More than one animated element on a web page can be very distracting as well.

Affiliate tracking can also be a problem. Once you have applied to become an affiliate for a
company, they’ll usually supply you with a personalized link or code. It’s very important
that you implement this code into your page correctly, or you may be sending visitors to the
company without receiving any profit.

A majority of snippets in the code will contain a unique user ID, which the company uses to distinguish which site sent traffic.
